AT SECURITIES & INVESTMENT PLANNING COMPANY, we employ a variety of strategies to take advantage of the opportunities offered in a wide range of changing market conditions. We have a particular expertise in option trading. Two of our senior traders have a combined 40+ years of option experience. Their insights and knowledge may be able to enhance your investment strategy.

Options can be described as the right to buy or sell a stock at a specified price for a predetermined amount of time. There are an almost infinite number of ways to utilize options as part of your investment strategy. Some are approved for use in an IRA or tax -deferred account, although there are many others that are not. Investors can choose from many different strike prices, strategies that use calls or puts, and strategies that use both. Options can give you greater flexibility in responding to the movement of the market. Using options can provide you with ways to play a stock if you expect it to sit quietly and with strategies to use when you expect a stock to move but aren't sure which way.

Regardless of which strategies you might use, there are several things to consider. First is that option commissions will affect overall results and particularly when buying or selling small quantities since there is usually an economy of scale. Before initiating any option position, you should learn as much as you can (there are many resources) and you should also contact your tax advisor as well as an investment professional.

We are risk-oriented spreaders when it comes to options. If you trade, hedge, or spread-or would like to learn more about these approaches-please feel free to contact us at your convenience at 973-701-9272. To see examples of the types of strategies we employ, please visit our Strategies + Special Situations page.

Note: Option trading is understood to be a higher-risk method of investment, and is not suitable for all investors. Certain options strategies have the potential for loss of the entire investment in a short period of time.
